Churches of Ba Ga Maidi
The Ba Ga Maidi community is home to several historic churches that have shaped the spiritual and cultural life of our people for over a century.
Native Independent Congregational Church (NICC)
Founded: 1885 at Manthe
Founded by Chief Kgantlapane of the Ba Ga Maidi Tribe after the seceding congregation appealed to him for assistance to set up their own church, separating from the London Missionary Society.
United Congregational Church (UCCSA)
Established: 1886 at Manthe
One of the first churches in Ba ga Maidi, originally known as the London Missionary Society (LMS). Under Mr Phillip Gaerobale Mocwiri, it expanded to Picong and beyond.
Zion Christian Church (ZCC)
One of the largest African-initiated churches in Southern Africa with a significant presence in the Ba Ga Maidi community.
St John Apostolic Church
An active church serving the Ba Ga Maidi community with spiritual guidance and community support.
